living in Halifax, NS and Toronto, ON CANADA
Bickle Creative Press Release May 1, 2001
The Barbara Bickle Gallery is pleased to announce the launching of a Virtual Art Gallery on the World Wide Web.
The Web provides an excellent opportunity for the Bickle Gallery to highlight the original work of seven individual artists living in Toronto and Halifax. The artists are: Sarah Bradbury, Yi Chen, Audrey Garwood, Bill Kort, Rebecca Roberts, Kay Murray-Weber and
Barbara Bickle. An eighth artist will join the site in June.
Each artist has his or her own portfolio pages to display work andcontact information for prospective buyers. A Meet the Artist page links to those pages giving a brief description of the artist's life. In addition, space is available for artists to publish news about their work or views on any issue relevant to the site. Visiting artists will be introduced on a regular basis to stimulate activity and enhance the focus of the artist's probings.
Visitors are encouraged to visit art related links that compliment the interests of the gallery. These include the garden images of Halifax photographer, Andrea Johnson, Richard Levangie's site of maritime artisans, Pat Burstall's site of commissioned paintings of navy ships and Rob and Joyce Stevenson's Thistle Dance Publishing, an enterprise of well known maritime artists greeting cards and other graphic related material.
Also joining the site is Fran Laws, an art consultant from Toronto, who will use the site in the development of designing office spaces by showing clients the work of the gallery artists. Barbara Bickle will provide consultation services in Halifax.
The practical goal for the site is to attract prospective buyers, collectors, dealers, curators, viewers, and readers and to invoke a sense of community amongst a group of committed and dedicated artists.
