Women in Accounting, Finance Earning Less Than Men
CareerBank.com's 2001 Salary Survey of more than 1,500 accounting and finance professionals finds that women--in most of the industry--are earning less than men with the same title.

The report, based on the responses of more than 1,500 accounting, finance and banking professionals, includes information concerning education, career changes, salary and more.

EDUCATION
Of those surveyed, 56% have a bachelors degree and 28% have a Masters degree. A similar percentage (55% of women and 57% of men) have completed undergraduate studies. Of those with Masters degrees, 70% are men and 30% are women.
CAREER CHANGES
When asked why they left their last job, the most common answer of women (35%) reported they did so because they werent making anough money. The most common answer given by men (30%) was they did so to make a change in their career path.
SALARY
· Of Senior Accountants surveyed, 63% of the female respondents are making less than $50,000 per year. The majority of male respondents (58%) are making between $50,000 and $90,000 per year.
· Of Financial Analysts surveyed, the majority of women (70%) are making less than $50,000 per year. Just 49% of the male respondents in this category reported to be earning less than $50,000 per year.
· Of CFOs surveyed, 83% are men and 17% are women. 70% of male respondents make more than $90,000 per year. 41% of female respondents make more than $90,000 per year.
