Aussie Team Imports Innovative "Bark Busters" Program
DENVER – Mick Dundee, the fictional character made famous by Australian Paul
Hogan in Crocodile Dundee, once pointed three fingers at an aggressive water buffalo and stared the beast down until it dropped to its knees. While this method of animal behavioral control may seem a bit far fetched, there is a team of Australian dog training and behavioral specialists new to the United States, that are wagering that their innovative, patented training methods will impress American dog owners.
Andrew and Lisa Brooke and Liam and Natalie Crowe, two husband and wife teams from the big island continent, have brought the tried and true Bark Busters system half way around the world, hoping to convince Americans what thousands of Australian,
New Zealand and British dog owners already know…Bark Busters really works.
Developed by renowned dog behavioral therapists Sylvia and Danny Wilson in 1989, Bark Busters was conceived with the purpose of saving as many dogs as possible from being euthanized because owners could no longer control their behavior. The system was born out of hard work and extensive research by impassioned dog lovers, and the result is a proven method of training geared specifically toward each animal and its owners.
"We help you understand your dog and communicate with it so it understands
you," says Andrew Brooke, President of Dingo Enterprises, The U.S. branch of Bark
Busters, International. "All dogs will chew, run, nip, bark and enthusiastically jump all over you, but with Bark Buster training, the dog will learn to modify its behavior so it does what you want it to do. This is how we create happier families and happier dogs."
For $250, a Bark Busters behaviorist will visit a home and spend two hours with the dog and its owner, training both on how to correct the animals behavior. The humane, non-physical training methods employ body language, voice tone techniques, and
positive reinforcement using voice praise, with each session specifically geared to the temperament of each individual dog.
"Bark Busters proven method of training establishes a chain of command that starts and ends with the owner," Brooke says. "We guarantee each session for the life of the dog. We will return free of charge, on an ongoing basis if needed, until the problem is fixed or if the problem returns. We have confidence in the system, and if an owner wants it to work and follows it consistently, we wont have to return. Its a guarantee we have
no problem making."
Bark Busters long term plans include establishing Bark Buster franchises across the country and that is one of the reasons why the Brookes and Crowes chose Colorado to serve as the U.S. headquarters for the company. Colorados central location and the large number of dog-owners in the Denver metro area make it the ideal launching ground for the Bark Busters system.
Bark Busters has already trained over Colorado 100 dogs and their owners in the past three months with the innovative system. Clients like Linda Smith of Highlands Ranch have seen a marked difference in their dogs behavior.
- cant believe how simple this system is and how well it works," Smith says. "My dog is a different dog. The look of relief in my dogs face mirrors my own.
