Countdown in Alaska, the first of the series, introduces the sleuths, Julie Del Rio, a Vieques born EPA investigator who is teamed with Sean Ryan, an Irish FBI agent working for a new environmental crimes unit division of the FBI. This division, which has a real life counterpart, deals exclusively with environmental crimes, particularly terrorists attacks. On their first case together, the sleuths battle an eco-terrorist group who is dumping toxic materials into pristine Alaskan waters and threatens to nuke our most precious natural resource.
Could this really happen?
EPA working with the FBI recently fined cruiseliners who openly and illegally polluted the ocean for profit, and smuggling of radioactive material remnants of the cold war have been documented for over a decade! At this moment, drums filled with radioactive waste abandoned by the soviets in the Arctic years ago are corroding. It may only be a matter of time.
Worst Case Scenario – Bhopal in the South the second adventure of the series, being released this spring. The story begins with a devastating explosion caused by when derailed train which spills toxic and explosive chemicals, killing hundreds of black residents in a southern town. The evidence points to sabotage and the sleuths travel as far as Argentina in search of a connection to this terrorist attack. Was it racially motivated? Could it happen in other towns? The quest for answers will thrill the readers as our sleuths face death trying to unravel the mystery.
Could we have a Bhopal type accident right here? Train wrecks of the type described in the novel have already occurred in many parts of the country and have devastated towns, crops and killed residents. The story, which is inspired by real events, shows you how easily terrorists could cause such a tragedy. This thrilling novel has all the elements of a page turning thriller. You cant put it down.
