From Pristina to Phoenix:
International Cop/Talk Show Host Brings Show Home to America
Kevin Smith founded The Kevin Smith Show, a daily online talk show, in Kosovo while serving as an international police officer. He has now brought the show home to America, originating in Phoenix, Arizona.
Huddled in a corner of a tiny two room apartment in Pristina, Kosovo with a candle for light and a footlocker for a desk, he opened his laptop computer with a mini-cassette recorder plugged into it's microphone jack. He was nervous. His hands felt clammy. He was about to do something entirely out-of-step with his professional assignment as an international police officer. What he was about to do would be known to people all around the earth.
It was when he turned on the computer, and activated the cassette recorder that his nerves began to calm. There was no going back now. The deed was done. Just like that, in an instant, Kevin Smith became an international talk show host with his first broadcast of The Kevin Smith Show over the internet.
For a year, The Kevin Smith Show was broadcast to the world via the internet from Kosovo. But on May 5, 2001 Kevin brought the show home to America.
Originating from Phoenix, Arizona, the show is broacast Monday-Friday via its web site at www.ksshow.com. "People from all over the world are listening," says Smith. "I have gotten e-mail from listeners in most of Europe, eastern Europe, Zambia, Australia, Taiwan, England, Canada, and the United States."
The show is as eclectic as its host. Topics range from UFOs and aliens to vampires, ghosts, constitutional issues, and international issues.
"I am glad to be back in America. After a few years of living in war zones, it feels great to be free again."
As for the future, Smith says he will continue to produce and host the show, and expand it into a syndicated radio show.
