The computerised Index has been available to perform searches since November 1999, containing the names of more than 18,000 child migrants. The Index provides access to information for those child migrants, who for many years have found it difficult to gain access to their personal details and address the question of ‘Who am I. The Index was set up in 1999 as a direct result of the House of Commons Health Select Committees findings and recommendations into the welfare of former British child migrants. The British Government commissioned the National Council of Voluntary Child Care Organisations (NCVCCO) to set up and manage the Child Migrant Central Information Index (CMCII) which is government funded until March 2002 and acts as a signposting service towards the child migrants Sending Agency.
The Child Migrant Central Information Index is located at NCVCCO, Unit 4, Pride Court, 80-82 White Lion Street, London N1 9PF England. Tel/Fax: +44 20 7713 5937 e-mail: migrant@voluntarychild.org website: http://www.ncvcco.org/projects/childmigrant.htm
