CAMP FIRE BOYS AND GIRLS NEWLY APPOINTED DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC POLICY IS A FAMILIAR FACE ON CAPITOL HILL

The work of a newcomer to the staff of Camp Fire Boys and Girls National Headquarters is nothing new to Capitol Hill. Phillip Lovell began his official position of Director of Public Policy with the organization June 18.

(PRWEB) June 23, 2001 -- The work of a newcomer to the staff of Camp Fire Boys and Girls National Headquarters is nothing new to Capitol Hill. Phillip Lovell began his official position of Director of Public Policy with the organization June 18.

Acting as policy coordinator for the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Youth as Resources (CYAR), Lovell was a lead negotiator and integral part in advancing the Younger Americans Act, the first organized, coordinated piece of positive youth development legislation the United States has ever seen. Partnering with the Office of the Democratic Leader (Richard A. Gephardt, D-Mo.), Lovell served to facilitate youth involvement in the drafting of House Resolution 357, the first youth-written resolution introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives. Lovell also served as a youth board member of the National Crime Prevention Council and CYAR and is the founding co-chair of the National Youth Network, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, U.S. Department of Justice.

Camp Fire Boys and Girls CEO Stewart J. Smith believes Lovells appointment was just the right choice for the organization. Were walking the walk and talking the talk," Smith said. Lovell graduated from Georgetown Universitys School of Foreign Service with a bachelor of science degree where he majored in international politics and concentrated his studies in transstate actors in world politics. His impressive educational background is surpassed only by his experiences in five formative years spent as a teen and young adult aligning himself with Congressional staff and developing partnerships in D.C.

Lovell replaces the outgoing Director of Public Policy Suzanne Noonan who has diligently worked to maintain Camp Fires persona and credibility in our nations capitol for six years.

Lovell, originally from Indianapolis, Ind., currently resides in Rockville, Md.
