Last year Jamie Catto, founding member of Faithless and Artist/Producer Duncan Bridgeman, joined forces to create the project, 1GiantLeap. They embarked upon a global journey armed only with a digital audio camera and a vision, to capture and share with others, the unique fusion of sound, image and spoken word from all over the world. The final result, a soon-to-be released DVD film/album, is truly absorbing with significant contributions from the likes of MICHAEL STIPE, NENEH CHERRY, BAABA MAAL AND DENNIS HOPPER.

The 1 Giant Leap web site reflects this enlightening vision through the duo's diary entries, film snippets, music, photos and Quest game.
The Quest is an interactive puzzle that invites the user to step into Jamie and Duncan's shoes to share and follow their compelling adventure. Clues to the puzzle can be picked up from Pods. These unique contraptions provide users with hints to assist them in the Quest, where 2 'round the world' tickets can be won. Once assigned to a Pod, owners can send emails to other Pod masters, but above-all gain a taster of the site and the ethos of this thought-provoking project through music and movie clips.

The overall impact of 1 Giant Leap can be experienced from their DVD film/album, released this Autumn. But if you can't wait for that, you can sample the first fruits of their labour, "Braided Hair", their official single that hits the shops from 16th July 2001. The single features infectious vocals by Neneh Cherry and Speech from Arrested Development.

Last Thursday I went along to see 1 Giant Leap sing live at 'Vote For Music', a night of visual and sonic brilliance performed by artists of genuine talent and passion for music.

Four cinema-sized screens projected an introductory film capturing the essence of their earth-moving journey and encounters. To the audiences delight, 1 Giant Leap were joined on stage by Robbie Williams, Maxi Jazz and Baaba Maal.
