LONGPORT, INC. ANNOUNCES COMPLETION OF YALE STUDY, NEW APPOINTMENT, AND SCANNER UPDATE

SWARTHMORE, PA. - July 17, 2001- Longport, Inc. (OTC:LPTI) is pleased to announce the following:

Yale Study Results

Longport, Inc. announced today the favorable results of a study completed by Dr. Courtney H. Lyder, ND, GNP,CWS,FAAN, of Yale University School of Nursing. Dr. Lyder is a foremost authority and national opinion leader in the field of wound care. He is the keynote speaker of the International Symposium on Wound Healing" in October 2001 in Orlando, Florida.

In an abstract of a study entitled Nursing Home Portable Ultrasound Study", Dr. Lyder stated that the purpose of this study was to evaluate the use of the portable ultrasound to guide clinical wound care decisions in two groups of residents residing in an urban long-term care facility. The Longport Digital Scanner (20MHz) was used in this study. Residents were enrolled who were either at risk" for pressure ulcers using the Braden Scale for Predicting Pressure Ulcers or had an active pressure ulcer. A total of 39 residents were enrolled in this study. An equal number of residents were at risk", 20 compared to those with active ulcers, 19. This study found that for the at risk" group, the ultrasound was able to identify 4 Stage 1 pressure ulcers prior to visible" detection by staff. Thus, nursing staff implemented aggressive pressure ulcer prevention strategies. For the active" pressure ulcer group, the ultrasound was able to influence the treatment decisions 40% of time (76% to change treatment and 24% to maintain present treatment.) The LDS had a positive influence on guiding clinical wound decisions in both groups of residents".

Management believes that the results of this study may lead to a new standard for the prevention, monitoring, and treatment of pressure sores in both acute care and long-term care facilities. Also, institutions may be able to reduce their medical and financial liability through documentation of the exact time and location of pressure sore development.

New Appointment

Longport, Inc. also is pleased to announce today the appointment of Dr. Nandkumar M. Rawool, MD, RDMS, as Director of Ultrasonic Imaging. Dr. Rawool is a Research Associate of the Division of Ultrasound, Department of Radiology at Thomas Jefferson University. Thomas Jefferson has the largest ultrasound department in the country and is regarded as a top research facility in the field of ultrasound imaging. He has published over 100 research papers and has numerous contacts in the field of commercial ultrasound. Management believes the addition of Dr. Rawool as a consultant will greatly facilitate the introduction of its scanner technology into the field of musculoskeletal imaging. Dr. Rawool said he has joined the Longport team because Longport with its technology of high frequency imaging is likely to open up a whole new imaging modality in diagnostic ultrasound. High frequency imaging will be the wave of the future in applications ranging from the skin to musculoskeletal ultrasound including sports medicine."

Scanner Update

Longport took delivery of its first ten commercial- ready scanners in June 2001. The following is a status report on these scanners.

1.) Five units were sold on a wholesale basis. This coincides with Longports strategy to have         outside distributors involved in marketing the technology.

2.)   Two units are being placed with private practice groups in Connecticut and Colorado on a rent to buy basis.

3.) In accordance with our ongoing marketing plan of placing our technology with the countrys     top opinion leaders, units are being placed at:

Massachusetts General Hospital: The scanner will be used for clinical studies through the Department of Dermatology of the Harvard School of Medicine. They will study skin cancers and other dermatologic pathology.

Mayo Clinic: Studies will be done in a multidisciplinary setting in the area of wound management and musculoskeletal imaging (sports medicine).

Management is very proud that we have added these fine institutions to our growing list of prestigious research facilities using our technology.

4.)   One unit will be used as a demonstrator for our ongoing sales and marketing effort.

Management believes this is an excellent beginning to the commercialization of our product and a good representation of how and to whom future units will be placed.

About Longport, Inc.
Longport, Inc., is the developer of the Longport Digital Scanner (LDS), a high resolution, portable, digital ultrasound scanner that captures and reproduces images of soft tissue down to approximately 3 cm. The images are stored in a portable computer and can be e-mailed off-site for interpretation. The company has developed the LDS with multiple applications in mind, including wound management, identification of potential pressure ulcers, and detection of subtle changes in superficial tendons (i.e. Achilles, Extensor, and Flexor), ligaments (i.e. Ulnar Collateral), and soft tissue trauma.

The chief advantage to this process is that it will allow individual caregivers the opportunity to immediately assess and monitor patients with superficial soft tissue and muscle skeletal trauma, non-invasively.
