Commercial Programming Systems, Inc., Introduces New Focus and Announces Promotions; Al Strong Named Chief Executive Officer/ Chairman and Phil Sawyer Named President.

LOS ANGELES, CA – Commercial Programming Systems, Inc., (CPS), a Human Capital Management Services company specializing in contract, lease to hire, direct placement, web solutions and specialty recruiting of information technology professionals, recently announced promotions in upper management. Founder and president, Al Strong, will now hold the position of chief executive officer (CEO) and chairman. It was also announced that former executive vice president, Phil Sawyer, would be promoted to president.
As CEO and chairman, Strong will insure CPS is well positioned in their new industry specializations focusing on information technology (IT) recruiting for the financial, entertainment, healthcare, education, government and insurance sectors.
Strong founded CPS in 1978 and has over 30 years in the IT recruitment field, as well as a technical background as a programmer/analyst, supervisor and manager. Prior to establishing CPS, Strong was the executive vice president of Electronic Systems Personnel Service. He was also the founder of Career Data Personnel, a firm the recruited Information Technology professionals in the Southern California area. Additionally, he was the vice president and west coast manager for Information Industries Incorporated, a firm that first pioneered the Lease to Hire concept in the U.S. and abroad.
A graduate of the City College of New York, Strong is a member of the IS Associates at Anderson School, UCLA, a board member of the National Association for Computer Consultant Businesses (NACCB), and past president of The Education Foundation for the Association of Information Technology Professionals.
As president of CPS, Phil Sawyer will be primarily responsible for overseeing and implementing the companys new industry specializations. He will be responsible for managing and training all recruiters and sales staff for the Los Angeles, Orange County and Phoenix, Arizona offices. The goal of CPS is to provide the best service possible to our clients," said Strong. In order to facilitate this, Phil Sawyer has been promoted to president. He will help us to reach our goals by optimizing and streamlining the services we offer to our clients."
Sawyer has been with CPS for over 17 years. Prior to that, he was a recruiter and an account manager for MTW in Kansas City, MO, responsible for the management and recruiting of information systems professionals for contract and lease to hire services.
A graduate of the University of Missouri with a BA in mathematics, Sawyer also has a MA in management from the University of Arkansas. He is also president of the Southern California chapter of the NACCB.
