The homepage www.burgmueller.com informs in detail about life, work and periphery of the rhenish musician. Besides a bibliography and a discographie illustrate numerous portraits, documents and images the personal and cultural surroundings. Time witnesses and personal friends come to word in their memories and estimates.
Felix Mendelssohn wrote a funeral march on the death of his friend. Johannes Brahms felt " deeply agitated " by Burgmueller's " magnificent " works, while Max Bruch even in his higher age of his " extraordinary talent for composition " spoke. Robert Schumann placed Burgmueller in his essays beside Franz Schubert and get involved in the unfinished, second symphony of Burgmueller, which he partly supplemented 1851 in Düsseldorf.
After years of oblivion, the works of Norbert Burgmueller receive increasing attention. Several reprints and first editions are to be published soon. Most compositions are to be heard on modern records. In February 2000 the North German Radio presented the complete works of Burgmueller within an eight part transmission row.
The bilingual homepage understands itself as a source of information for all interested musicians and music friends. Updates and additions are regularly accomplished. Within only three weeks since its inauguration, the website was visited by approximately 1000 international guests.
