Campuscounselor.com begins Guaranteed Admissions Services for International Students
Greenwood Village, CO, 8/13/01. On August 8, 2001, Campuscounselor.com initiated its Guaranteed Admission service, hoping to draw a more diverse student body to colleges and universities in the US. The program finds interested students outside the US that are currently participating in college preparatory studies and have an interest in attending colleges or universities abroad. If the students qualify, Campuscounselor.com will guarantee them admission to an American institution.
The program, spearheaded by Imran Safiulla, Campuscounselor.com's Director of International Admissions, focuses on the need for colleges to increase their international presence while minimizing costs. Interested students are contacted by Campuscounselor.com's representatives abroad and invited to fill out an application and submit it to the site. The information is then available to schools online in a standardized format. Schools can then browse available students and, for a small fee, purchase completed applications at a fraction of the cost of international marketing efforts. The students are then offered admission by interested schools, allowing them to begin the process of applying for a student visa.
CEO Amit Mrig described the service as a breakthrough. "Students that could never hope to connect with a prestigious American school can finally apply anywhere they qualify. Likewise, American schools that couldn't afford to market to the entire world now have a cost-effective way of reaching a diverse pool of interested international students. It's a win-win situation."
The Guaranteed Admission service is offered in addition to Campuscounselor.com's existing array of services for students, high schools, parents and colleges and universities. Highlights include the ability for schools to host virtual college fairs through internet chats, an advanced search engine that matches students with colleges based on students achievement and interests, a rapidly growing scholarship database and a collection of articles written by current college students describing the college experience for applicants.
The Guaranteed Admission program is currently unavailable to domestic students. The service currently includes representatives throughout India, with plans to expand throughout the Indian sub-continent and Asia in the near future.
