MediNotes releases Charting Plus Version 4.1 - electronic medical records

This new release of the popular electronic medical records program allows physicians to have more control over their documentation.

West Des Moines, IA, June 1, 2001 – MediNotes Corporation released a major upgrade during the summer of 2000 to equip their flagship EMR program with a client-server SQL database, and outfit the software with a new set of functionality. The new 4.1 release will raise a lot less dust than its fully redesigned predecessor but will concentrate on many refinements that will give the physician much more control of their records.

Weve always considered Charting Plus the most flexible and effective EMR on the market, but (Charting Plus) 4.1 gives a physician a new and easier level of control over their notes. It was great before, but now its even better." said Donald Schoen, MediNotes CEO.
One of the biggest changes in 4.1 is the ability to annotate an image and then imbed the image in the patients electronic medical folder. This image can be one from the anatomical image library that is used by Charting Plus, or any other bitmap image that has been stored on the computer.

The Template Builder in Charting Plus 4.1 allows a user to quickly and effortlessly add default phrases by launching and completing the dialogs in the template, just as they would in the note itself. The result of this change is that changes may be made to a template without typing, and everything selected as default text is also saved as discrete data in the database for analysis. (MediNotes analytical reporting software is expected to be released by late Summer/Fall 2001.)

The Import Module in 4.1 has been completely rewritten to improve the speed and include additional interfaces to the Charting Plus. Along with several new custom interfaces, 4.1 adds HL7 and XML standard interfaces to the National Standards Format that has been the workhorse in the past.

Internal messaging has been added to allow doctors to quickly send text messages to other users using Charting Plus as the information exchange conduit. Similar to an e-mail system, this utility gives the options to save, delete, forward, and reply messages. It is an effective tool for communicating important clinical information to physicians and staff on the system using the security built into the software.
