Tax-Talent.com furthers its commitment to a diverse tax profession.
Online discussion forum promotes diversity in the accounting profession.
Tax-Talent.com (http://www.tax-talent.com) , the premier online resource for Tax Professionals, recently launched its Diversity Forum.
The Diversity Forum is a discussion board, exclusively for minority tax professionals, to discuss issues unique to them.
The Tax-Talent.com Diversity Forum came about through a collaboration between Tax-Talent.com and a host of successful minority tax specialists in the accounting and legal professions.
While hard numbers are hard to come by, we believe that members of minorities are seriously under-represented in the tax field," said Tax-Talent.com Director John ONeill.
The tax field remains an occupational area dominated by white males. We believe that there is an untapped source of tax accounting talent out there. Our Diversity Forum is a means of bringing the issue out into the open, and encouraging minority students to consider a career in the tax field.
Our goal is simple – to increase the number of individuals from under-represented groups who choose to pursue a career in taxation," he added.
The Diversity Forum will achieve this goal:
§ By fostering communication links between minority tax specialists - allowing a platform to openly give and receive advice on issues unique to this group;
§ By providing an arena for specific true-to-life topics to be presented - with discussion encouraged. Situations will be ones that all members can learn from.
§ By getting undergraduate minority students to be aware of the unique opportunities that the tax profession can offer.
Other services that are being developed and will be online in the near future include:
§ Diversity Mentor Program – Tax-Talent.com believes that one of the reasons there have been so few minorities in the tax profession is because of a lack of a forum for minority students, and tax specialists, to locate more seasoned minority tax professionals who were willing to be mentors;
§ Diversity Network Vault – A confidential and permanent database where members can store contact information on other minority tax professionals they choose to network with.
Tax-Talent.com, founded in 1999 and based in South Carolina, was launched on February 9, 2001.
A content driven site, Tax-Talent.com offers the tax professional a Salary Comparison, a Career Forum, providing access to a Career Coach with over 14 years experience in tax careers, and a Tax Training Events database, a constantly updated listing of US tax-oriented training events. With many more tools and resources available Tax-Talent.com should be on every tax professionals Favorite List.
