Oscar C. Gomez Receives TTA Outstanding Achievement Award
The Outstanding Achievement Award from the Texas Telephone Association (TTA) has been presented to Oscar C. Gomez, Vice President--Office of Diversity & Business Compliance, for Verizon Communications in New York City, New York. The announcement was made during the Opening General Session of the 96th Annual Convention of the TTA held September 11 in Arlington, Texas.

Oscar C. Gomez Receives TTA Outstanding Achievement Award
The Outstanding Achievement Award from the Texas Telephone Association (TTA) has been presented to Oscar C. Gomez, Vice President--Office of Diversity & Business Compliance, for Verizon Communications in New York City, New York. The announcement was made during the Opening General Session of the 96th Annual Convention of the TTA held September 11 in Arlington, Texas.
This award recognizes an individual for special and unique achievements made on behalf of the telecommunications industry and whose contributions have enhanced the membership of the Association.
Mr. Gomez has served as Chairman of the Texas Telephone Association Foundation since 1985. Under his leadership, the TTA Foundation has established a solid financial base to provide scholarship grants to graduating seniors pursuing an education in the telecommunications industry.
Mr. Gomez entered the telecommunications industry in 1974 working on tariff and pricing issues for GTE Southwest. He progressed through marketing and revenue requirements into management positions in regulatory and governmental affairs. In 1997, he was named Vice President of Diversity Marketing & Management for GTE. In June of last year, he became Vice President of Human Resources for Advanced Services for Verizon.
Today, as Vice President of Verizons Office of Diversity and Business Compliance, Mr. Gomez is responsible for overseeing the companys diversity initiatives among other responsibilities.
Joining Mr. Gomez for the presentation were his wife, grandson, mother, sister, and many other family members and friends.
The Texas Telephone Association is a non-profit trade association representing 59 incumbent local exchange carriers in Texas.
