DIGITAL PLANET UNVEILS BRANDABLE, INTERACTIVE CROSS-PLATFORM STREAMING MEDIA VIEWER
Highly Customizable Digital Planet Player (DPP) Streams
All Major Media Types, Bandwidths; Requires Minimal User Download
CULVER CITY, Calif. -- September 2001 - Digital Planet -- a leading producer of live and on-demand Webcasts for corporate, enterprise and entertainment audiences - has introduced the Digital Planet Player (DPP), a proprietary, highly customizable tool that simplifies the process of streaming and viewing any format of digital media via the Internet.
The DPP, presented by Culver City, Calif.-based Digital Planet, is a cross-platform viewer capable of running media encoded for replay on Real Networks, Windows Media or Quicktime players interchangeably, at any bandwidth desired, with minimal user download timed required. Up to six different streams of media (two media types with three bandwidths each) can be included in a given Webcast, using the Digital Planet Player.
Beyond video and audio playback, the DPP increases viewer interaction by offering customizable windows for simultaneous live chat, spokesperson Q&A sessions and multiple choice polling of viewers' interests and preferences. Other customizable features include backgrounds, window borders and window sizes, as well as logo and brand names placements, if desired. Custom features can also be changed, at will, during different segments of a Webcast.
In addition, the Digital Planet Player easily integrates slides and animation in Flash and Powerpoint slides in a slide show format -- each in scalable and customizable windows of any desired size.
"The Digital Planet Player removes most every question from the process of distributing and viewing streaming media across the Internet," explained Steven Chester, founder, Digital Planet. "Broadcasters can tailor several display windows to meet the needs of each individual Webcast and even introduce brand identity where needed. For users, the player makes viewing effortless, yet richer, by providing secondary streams of information that supplement the experience."
The cross-platorm DPP runs on both PCs and Macs using the common Macromedia Shockwave plug-in available pre-installed in most current browsers. Additional features include a choice of several levels of event security - for complete control of audience accessibility -- as needed, and archiving for easy on-demand replay at other times and for additional audiences.
A regular feature of Webcasts produced by Digital Planet in recent months, the DPP has already been the vehicle for transmission of video events for major motion picture studios and other entertainment ventures, branded marketing events as well as corporate informational presentations.
