FIVE PROMINENT NEW TRUSTEES JOIN
ORTHOPAEDIC HOSPITAL FOUNDATION BOARD
The Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital Foundation has elected five new members to its board of trustees: Richard W. Cook, chairman of The Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group; Sarah Meeker Jensen, of Amgen, Inc.; John F. Llewellyn, president & of Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks and Mortuaries; Michael R. Lombardi, president of Stonebridge Holdings, Inc., and Daisy Brookes Spurgin, CFO of Spurgin Development Company, Inc.
LOS ANGELES—September 26, 2001—As Orthopaedic Hospital embarks on its tenth decade of growth and development, the Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital Foundation has elected five new members to its board of trustees: Richard W. Cook, chairman of The Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group; Sarah Meeker Jensen, vice president for the Engineering and Operations Services group of Amgen, Inc.; John F. Llewellyn, president and chief executive officer of Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks and Mortuaries; Michael R. Lombardi, founder and president of Stonebridge Holdings, Inc., and Daisy Brookes Spurgin, chief financial officer of Spurgin Development Company, Inc.
We are delighted to welcome Richard, Sarah, John, Michael and Daisy as new Trustees," said Eloise L. Helwig, president of Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital Foundation. Their extensive experience and prominence in the business community make all of them wonderful additions to our Board. Their business acumen, expertise and guidance will prove invaluable as we make important decisions impacting the future of our institution," she added.
Richard W. Cook
Richard W. Cook began his career in 1970 as a ride operator at Disneyland, and currently serves as the chairman of the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, Walt Disney Studios. A graduate of the University of Southern California, Cook is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and sits on the board of directors of The Will Rogers Foundation and the Foundation of Motion Picture Pioneers. Cook also serves on the board of trustees of the University of Southern California and is president of the board of Flintridge Preparatory School.
Sarah Meeker Jensen
Licensed architect, Sarah Meeker Jensen is vice president for the Engineering and Operations Services group of Amgen, Inc., the worlds largest independent biotechnology company. Prior to joining Amgen, she served as assistant vice chancellor for Health Sciences Capital Programs at UCLA. A native of Washington, DC, Sarah graduated from Amherst College and earned her masters degree in architecture at UCLA. In addition to her appointment to the Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital Foundation board of trustees, Jensen is also a member of the American Institute of Architects and a trustee of the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum.
John F. Llewellyn
John F. Llewellyn is the president and chief executive officer of Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks and Mortuaries, renowned for its beauty and art collections. Llewellyn currently serves on a number of boards for community organizations, including Claremont Graduate University and

the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, as well as the California and Los Angeles Area Chambers of Commerce. He has been chairman of several volunteer associations, including the Boy Scouts of America-Los Angeles Area Council, the Braille Institute of America, Employers Group, and the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau. Llewellyn earned his bachelors degree at the University of Redlands and his MBA at the University of Southern California.
Michael R. Lombardi
Michael R. Lombardi is founder and president of Stonebridge Holdings, Inc., a company that develops, manages and markets high-end, hospital-intensive medical office buildings. He has also served as managing general partner of Newport Lido Medical Center since 1985 and managing member of Condor Partners, LLC, and is a chairman of the Board of Councilors of the University of Southern California (USC) School of Gerontology. Lombardi earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and an MBA from USC. He also holds a California real estate brokers license and once held a securities license with the National Association of Securities Dealers.
Daisy Brookes Spurgin
Daisy Brookes Spurgin currently serves as the chief financial officer at Spurgin Development Company, Inc., a respected real estate development company. A native of Southern California, Spurgin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in experimental psychology at Stanford University as well as an MBA with a concentration in finance from UCLA. Spurgin currently serves on the UCLA Medical Center Board of Advisors and is a member and past president of Las Madrinas, a group that supports research at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
The board of trustees, the governing body of Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital Foundation, is responsible for overseeing and guiding fund-raising efforts to support the Hospital and its programs, including pediatric charity care, education, and research.
