Arizona Company Protects Forces at Guantanamo Bay

Navy Service Personnel to Wear the Gimbel Glove While Processing Afghani Prisoners

Phoenix, Arizona, January 14, 2002 --The Navy has ordered over 1,000 pairs of Gimbel Glove Companys one-of-a-kind latex puncture resistant, cut resistant, and blood borne pathogen-resistant search-and-frisk gloves. Navy personnel will wear the gloves when processing Afghani prisoners and whenever they engage in search or frisk activities. The Arizona business is proud to participate in protecting Americas servicemen and women as they fight the war against terrorism.

Given the conditions in which the Afghani prisoners lived before and after their capture, it is important that our Armed Forces are well protected when handling the prisoners. The Gimbel Glove will help to protect Navy personnel from suffering accidental puncture and cut wounds when handling the prisoners, wounds that could infect service personnel with potentially serious diseases with which one or more prisoners may be inflicted. Furthermore, as a latex glove the wearer will gain protection from any contact he or she may sustain with a prisoners blood or other bodily fluids.

The Navys use of the Gimbel Glove is another example of the way in which Arizonas citizens and businesses have and are assisting with the war against terrorism. It is well known that the people of Arizona have been generous with their time and money in the aftermath of the tragedy on September 11th. Gimbel Glove is proud to continue that effort, extending Arizonas aid beyond the victims of the September 11th events to Americas Armed Forces now in harms way as we eradicate the threat of terrorism.

About Gimbel Glove Company, LLC-Based in Phoenix, Arizona, the young, privately held company manufactures and markets latex puncture-resistant, cut-resistant, and pathogen-resistant gloves. Based upon a design originated by Dr. Neal Gimbel, a Phoenix orthopedic surgeon, the patented gloves are marketed to emergency response personnel including the Armed Forces, law enforcement officers, and correctional officers. In addition, a sterile medical version of the glove is available to the health-care community, where it is regularly used by such prestigious institutions as New Yorks renowned Hospital for Special Surgery. Gimbels third product, its Bio Protective Glove, is particularly useful to waste handlers in hospitals and anywhere else where the wearer is likely to come into contact with sharp objects and/or hazardous waste.
