WHAT COLOR IS YOUR PARACHUTE? INSPIRES NEW COMPANY,
PARACHUTE ASSOCIATES

SAN FRANCISCO, January 18, 2002 -- In the midst of record-setting job losses, a new company, Parachute Associates, has been founded to help people who want to speed up their hunt for a job that really matches their skills and interests, or who want to change careers. Parachute Associates, was created by David R. Bennett in consultation with Richard N. Bolles. the author of the classic job-hunting book What Color Is Your Parachute? (7 million copies in print, updated annually).

Based on Bolles' thirty years of research, writings, and experience, Parachute Associates has developed job-hunting and career changing workshops for corporations and individuals. Its first workshops are shortly to be held, in Austin, Texas, and San Francisco, January 28- 30. Information on the workshops may be found at www.parachuteassociates.com

Parachute Associates, based in Tiburon, California, is comprised of seasoned management consultants, career counselors and workshop facilitators around the United States who, in the majority, have been trained by Richard Bolles himself. In addition to the workshop offerings, Parachute Associates also offers consulting services to corporations who want to support their employees in both outplacement and internal job mobility.

"The record job losses of the last four months coupled with the September 11 terrorist attacks has caused more and more people to ask themselves, 'what do I really want to do with my life?'" according to Bennett. " The philosophy of Bolles in "What Color Is Your Parachute?" - - regarding how to find your mission in life--- is more relevant than ever."

"With the Parachute Process, people are more likely to find work that they are excited about." said Bennett. "Life is far too short to dislike how you are spending the majority of your week. Our experience is that you save no time by lowering your expectations. It takes just as much time to find a job you dislike, as it does to find one that you love. We teach how to find a job you love. The Parachute Process gives people a practical way to look deeply at themselves, their interests and transferable skills, envision and find their ideal life-work situation."

This is not the first time Bennett has launched a training company. Prior to launching Parachute Associates, Bennett was co-founder and CEO for many years, of another training and consulting organization, Omega Performance, which worked with banks internationally, and was cited by Inc Magazine at the time, as one of the 500 fastest growing companies in the early 1980s. Paradoxically, Bennett attributes his long success in that venture, to having read "What Color is Your Parachute?" in graduate school, wherein he got the idea of founding Omega.

Now his new training and consulting company is based on that book, which is published by Ten Speed Press of Berkeley, California, and has over seven million copies in print worldwide, revised annually. (Referred to as 'the job hunter's bible,' it was cited last month by USA Today as one of the top 30 best selling business books of 2001. More recently, on the New York Times Business Paperback best seller list, it was number five.)
