A recent technological advance, a device known as the DRI-DAMPtm, is dramatically impacting the cigar world and Raising The Bar On Quality" for the entire industry.
The DRI-DAMPtm is the worlds first and only device made to check the actual moisture content of a cigar. A small probe on the product, which doesnt damage the cigar, is inserted about one inch into the open end (Foot") of the cigar and the cigar is rotated slightly. The DRI-DAMPtm meter shows if the cigar is dry, ready to smoke, or too wet. This allows the user to properly rotate the cigars within the humidor and make adjustments to the humidifier or hygrometer as needed.
Cigars have been produced for over two centuries and today, billions of them are sold every year. Millions are spent on cigar humidification. Until now, the monitoring devices used have been relative humidity gauges. These gauges, placed in humidors, measure the humidity of the air around the cigars. The theory until now has been, when humidity is held at 68-72%, the moisture in the cigar will be correct. The problem with this theory" is, theres never been a way to check a cigar for actual moisture content. With DRI-DAMPtm thats changed.
