A recent Gallup Study finds that 77% of Americans are NOT happy at work. Considering that the average person spends about one-third of their adult life at work, this translates to millions of unhappy workers. One of the main reasons that people are miserable at work is conflict. Conflict with the boss, coworkers, staff, and customers.

2. Use a high-energy approach when communicating with a person who is outgoing, sociable, enthusiastic, persuasive, and likes to interact with people. Tap into their natural ability to motivate others. Allow time for socializing. Recognize their accomplishments publicly.

3. Be as patient and relaxed as possible when relating with a person who is patient, relaxed, unhurried, logical, and focuses on creating and maintaining structure. Give them plenty of time to think things over" when asking for their opinion. Present changes in policies and work schedules slowly.

4. Prepare your case" in advance, paying extreme attention to details when interacting with an individual who is cautions, meticulous, orderly and focuses on generating accurate and precise work. Communicate by providing adequate facts and figures on a situation. Stick to business and avoid loud outbursts.

5. Understand that your preferred way of behaving is not necessarily the way that others prefer to behave. When you adapt your behavior to match the behavior of the person you are communicating with you open" the door of communication and break the cycle of conflict.

6. Tell your boss and staff what makes YOU tick, specifically whether your focus is on results, people, planning, or data. Sharing this information with colleagues is like giving them an instructional manual on how to work with you.
