Fortune magazine has named Griffin Hospital as one of the "100 Best Companies To Work For" for the third consecutive year, a feat no other hospital has achieved. Griffin ranked 43rd on the FORTUNE list its highet ranking. Griffin ranked 70 last year and 54 in 2000. Griffin has been the smallest company on the list in terms of revenue.

Derby, CT -- January 21, 2002, FORTUNE magazine has named Griffin Hospital as one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For" for the third consecutive year, a feat no other hospital has achieved. Griffin ranked 43rd on the Fortune list its highest ranking. Griffin ranked 70 last year and 54 in 2000. Fortune has published the list for five years. Griffin has been the smallest company on the list in terms of revenue. The Fortune list includes such nationally recognized companies as Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Charles Schwab, Lands End, Starbucks, Timberland, Nordstrom, and Harley Davidson.

Governor John Rowland issued an Official Statement of congratulations to Griffin Hospital on being named to the list expressing his deepest appreciation and recognition of the hospitals outstanding achievements, applauding the hospital on this great distinction. The Governor proclaimed Tuesday, January 22, 2002 as Griffin Hospital Day in the State of Connecticut.

The 100 Best Places to Work For" list will be published in the February 4, 2002 issue of FORTUNE as well as on their web site at www.fortune.com The 100 Best Companies to Work for are chosen from an ever-growing pool of finalists that this year totaled 279 companies. Two-thirds of the score is based on how randomly selected employees respond to the Great Place to Work Trust Index, a survey instrument measuring the quality of workplace culture including trust in management, pride in work and company and camaraderie. The remainder of the score is based on the evaluation of the company response to the Institutes Culture Audit. This year 20 new companies made the list.
