Believe it or not! -Returning from the IBM tm Solutions Partnership Center in Waltham, Ma, a team of Foedero engineers presented the results of intensive performance tests on their flagship product, FoederoCache, a high speed dynamic web cache.

Using a cluster configuration with a database server (8-way 550MHz CPU) and 6 application servers (2-way 900MHz CPU) and 1000 virtual users, the response time and performance gain were measured at 196X and 793X respectively over the non-cached configuration.

These are incredible results that far exceeded the expectation we had... you can imagine the productivity gain for customers and increase in customer retention when applications relay dynamic information with this level of performance. We can outdo our competitors in speed and performance by up to 20 times.," says Adrian Mah Director of Business Development.

FoederoCache is a web application server accelerator that offers simple to use tags and a comprehensive set of APIs' for programmers to develop web-optimized software, and enhances manageability of large-scale transactional web sites through the caching of dynamic content. FoederoCache 2.1 Integrated Edition and Cluster Edition (beta) were released in late December of 2001 and available for free download until March. Unlike other dynamic caching solutions, FoederoCache is pushed back closer to the database server, not the web server, and hence is completely secure.

By offloading the database and application servers, FoederoCache is attractive for not only increasing web application performance, but has enormous implications in decreasing huge investments in IT hardware, usually involved with growing companies requiring increased stability to their web infrastructure. We were able to augment the number of users up to 4 times over the server threshold. This signifies that you no longer have to make expensive servers upgrades to get the performance when you need it" according to Adrian.
