Backbone Media Names Greg Jarboe Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer

WALTHAM, MA -- January 24, 2001 -- Backbone Media today announced the appointment of Greg Jarboe as Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. The Internet marketing company specializes in Web site promotion, search engine optimization, and email services.

From 1999 to 2001, Jarboe was Vice President of Marketing for WebCT. Among his accomplishments, he launched WebCT.com and helped it become one of the Internet sites visited most often by college students, while also cutting the cost per visitor in half.

From 1988 to 1999, Jarboe worked for Ziff-Davis in several capacities inside and outside the company, including Director of Corporate Communications, President of Jarboe Communications, and Director of Marketing for PC Computing, as well as a member of both its Leadership Council and Marketing Council. While there, he helped launch Yahoo! Internet Life, ZDNet, and ZDTV (which is now called TechTV).

From 1986 to 1988, Jarboe was Director of Corporate Communications at Lotus Development Corp. While there, he launched several new products, including Lotus Notes.

Jarboe graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan, attended the University of Edinburgh, and worked on his Masters at Lesley College. He lives in Acton, MA, where he has served as Chairperson of the towns Board of Selectmen.
