'BORROW-A-DOG SERVICE APPEALS FOR MORE BORROWERS!
'Borrowadog.com is going from strength to strength since it was launched last August but is struggling to find a way to get the word out to potential borrowers.
'Borrowadog.com is going from strength to strength since it was launched last August but is struggling to find a way to get the word out to potential borrowers.
Borrowadog.com , which offers dog owners a kinder yet cost-effective alternative to kennelling, dog-walkers or dog sitters, matches dog owners who need a temporary break from their pets with those in their local community who would like to own a dog, but are unable to do so due to work, logistical or personal reasons.
Managing Director, Laura Stevens explains "It is fairly easy to attract the attention of dog owners as there are various magazines and other websites to tell them about our services."
"However, as we are a very small company and do not have a large advertising budget it is difficult getting the word out to potential borrowers as these come from so many walks of life"
"We know from our research that there are thousands of people out there who would love to spend some time with a dog, but we cannot yet afford television or radio advertising. There is also such a diversity of magazines on the market it is difficult to know which ones to target"
Borrowadog.com now have a large quantity of dogs and owners registered with them across the whole of the UK, who are all seeking help with their pets. "These range from people looking for a hand with walking or others who are looking for someone to look after their dog whilst they are on holiday as they hate putting them into kennels".
Borrowers can be any age (as long as they are over 18) and can be able to offer anything from a few hours here and there to regular support including overnight stays, weekends and full weeks. "Most of our borrowers are ex-owners themselves" says Laura. "Quite often they have lost a dog themselves or a family has broken up and the dog has gone with their partner".
Borrowadog gives people a real opportunity to spend time with a dog without full time commitment. As their logo says "Sharing the responsibility, Sharing the Joy"
Potential borrowers can register at www.borrowadog.com or by telephoning 020 8354 3967. Subject to acceptance (all applicants must comply with certain conditions in order to protect the health and safety of the dogs), their names will be stored on a database and carefully matched according to respective needs. A small annual fee is charged for using the service: 30.00 for owners and 20.00 for borrowers.
