Entrusts latest offering, Entrust Authority 6.0 software, provides new capabilities that make it easier for customers to deploy enhanced Internet security and security life-cycle management capabilities. Chrysalis-ITS Luna CA3 has been fully integrated and tested with Entrust Authority 6.0 software to offload the root key functions from the software into a tamper resistant hardware system, providing customers with a complete hardware-based key management and storage solution for Entrust Authority 6.0 software.

The widespread use of cryptographic keys within a security infrastructure creates a need for key protection to reduce the risk of private keys being compromised. Luna CA3 hardware uses a multi-level hardware-based approach for protecting keys that is unmatched in the industry. The first level wraps the keys using 3DES encryption. A second level of encryption is added which incorporates multi-person authentication to gain access to the keys while the third level stores the keys in a secure, tamper-proof enclosure. This layered system protects keys throughout their lifecycle and provides an added trusted safeguard, within a security solution that interfaces with the Entrust Authority Security Manager, to create the CA keys and sign certificates.
