Spaced Out Sounds announces release date for forthcoming CD by Australian Post Rock outfit circle of willis
April 1, 2002 set as release date for "The Manual of Internal Fixation", the follow-up to the critically praised "Fractures in the Elderly"
Spaced Out Sounds is pleased to announce that a release date of April 1, 2002 has been set for the new circle of willis album. To be entitled "The Manual of Internal Fixation" it is a follow-up to their critically praised 2000 release "Fractures in the Elderly".
This new album continues many themes established on Fractures... but also introduces some new directions. Tracks such as Motherless and Father God hark back to some of the gospel-influenced earlier material, while tracks liky Sleep and Wrong Answer on Family Feud exhibit elements of Space Rock and Hip-Hop. A touch of 80s goth-pop even gets a look in on a reworked version of "Art for Life", a song which originally appeared on the legendary and controverisal first album "Rectal Intrusion, Cumquat Man".
Once again circle of willis have produced an album featuring a wide range of styles. The humour from Fractures... is still evident but overall "The Manual of Internal Fixation" is a darker and more serious work. Samples are still used heavily but many tracks are built around a more conventional song structure. The production talents of this foursome from Australia have continued to develop and despite this more conventional approach to songwriting the material still manages to impress with its originality and left-of-centre feel.
circle of willis are still dedicated to the d-i-y philosophy of music making. Once again this release has been totally written, recorded and produced by the members and will be distributed primarily via mail-order and online CD stores. However, when asked whether circle of willis would ever succumb to pressure and sign with a major label or distributor band spokesman I.H. stated "I'm ready to sell-out whenever the price is right".
