New Media Maze http://www.newmediamaze.com the Interactive Marketing Consultancy have been appointed by Universal Pictures Video UK to market the eagerly anticipated first ever UK DVD release of the 21st Anniversary of An American Werewolf in London.
The campaign is to target DVD buyers who will remember the title from its original release, for its 21st anniversary release. Its the first time the film has been released on DVD in the UK and will be out to own from the 4th March 2002, celebrating a classic - probably the most well-know werewolf movie of all time which spans two decades.
Directed by John Landis in 1981, the horror classic starring David Naughton, Jenny Agutter, Griffin Dunne, John Irvine and even includes a brief appearance from Rik Mayall. The film focuses upon two American tourists that visit the Yorkshire moors and are attacked by a werewolf -- killing one and turning the other into a werewolf. The film was renowned at the time for its amazing special effects, but surprisingly blends black humour and shocking scenes to create one of the most memorable horror movies of all time.
The campaign runs for three weeks commencing on 14th February 2002 and includes online advertising, third party deals with leading websites and portals, online PR, email and viral marketing with online promotion and competitions.
The promotions are to be integrated into offline activity to create awareness that An American Werewolf in London 21st has reached its anniversary to horror fans and those that watched the timeless classic when it was first released -- but also appeals to a audiences that didnt experience the release the first time around over 21 years ago.
