Single? Find Your Valentine on the Slopes
Snowlovers.net is an online matchmaking service that provides a no-pressure way for snowsport enthusiasts to meet for a few runs... and maybe more! The Presidents' Day/Valentine's Day weekend is among the busiest at ski resorts throughout North America. But one of the prime reasons single skiers and riders don't return to the slopes is for lack of a skiing or boarding
companion.
Members of this free service can search 1,200+ resorts for skiing and riding partners. To become a member, users complete a short profile about themselves and their snowsport skills. On their personal online calendar they list where and when they plan to ski or ride. Then members explore the
possibility of meeting for fun on the snow via SnowLovers' anonymous messaging system.
The web site is equally useful for members who simply want an activity partner on a particular day at a particular resort, as for those who may be interested in pursuing an off-snow, romantic relationship.
Snowlovers.net makes finding a snowlovin' Valentine 'date' fun:
| | - A Snowlovers 'date' provides the perfect balance between time to get acquainted on the chairlift and time for skiing or snowboarding... a natural break from the pressure to maintain interesting conversation.
|
| | - Sitting shoulder-to-shoulder on a chairlift makes conversation easy, and adds the intangible of close physical proximity.
|
| | - Unlike a blind date where both people invest a couple hours of their busy lives (frustrating if they don't hit it off), meeting someone for a couple runs is fun even if the only thing in common is a love of skiing or riding.
|
| | - The awkwardness associated with "who pays", typical for a blind date, is eliminated.
- The physical exertion of skiing or snowboarding greatly reduces the stress associated with meeting someone new.
|
| | - If Snowlover members don't hit it off, parting company at the top of the lift or where the trail divides is painless.
|
| | - If Snowlover members do hit it off, there is no shortage of apres-ski fun
| in the party atmosphere of a ski resort.
