Atlanta, GA -- January 28, 2002 -- Geac Enterprise Solutions Americas, a leading provider of Web-enabled enterprise resource planning (ERP) software applications, announced today that, through its strategic alliance with FRx® Software, two customers recently licensed the FRx Financial Reporting solution to augment their Geac® SmartStream® General Ledger (GL) applications. El Nuevo Dia and LTV Copperweld selected the full-featured reporting solution for its usability and customization features and will, as a result, recognize significant improvements in their knowledge management and financial statement reporting capabilities. With this financial reporting solution, Geac is demonstrating its commitment to providing increased service, support and technology enhancements to customers worldwide through internal development as well as its proven partnership strategy.

After viewing a demonstration at Geacs ALLIANCE2001 User Conference and attending subsequent Web seminars, we were impressed with FRx Financial Reportings ability to provide quick access to reports on demand. It also provides access from a central point and improves our communications by pushing information across the Web," said Maria Matias, technical supervisor for overall SmartStream operations at El Nuevo Dia. More importantly, we now have the ability to drill down into our processes or merge reports from our five companies to get a consolidated look at our entire operations. El Nuevo Dia (The New Day) owns Puerto Ricos largest daily newspaper as well as four other newspaper-related, telemarketing and general administration businesses. SmartStream, a comprehensive suite of client/server-based ERP applications, has been the financial and technology solution for all of these companies since 1996, with an average of 5,500 GL transactions per year just for El Nuevo Dia.

FRx Financial Reporting solution (Version 6.0) enables organizations to view SmartStream financial reports using any standard Web browser, and offers a number of tools to design, publish, view and store essential financial information across the Internet or a corporate Intranet. It also provides data exchange with other business applications that are either XML- or HTML-aware. FRx Financial Reporting has full Web administration and security features, including the ability to create workgroups, modify permissions or define security features.

LTV Copperweld, with annual revenues of more than US$1 billion, is the largest and most diverse manufacturer of steel tubing in North America, and the leading global supplier of bimetallic wire products. The company employs 3,600 people and manufactures products at 22 plants worldwide.

According to Eric Schorr, financial systems coordinator at LTV Copperweld, the company anticipates staff in nearly half of its locations across Canada and the United States will begin using the application within the next few months. The FRx Financial Reporting solution will replace LTV Copperwelds current static reports and two-dimensional balance sheets with flexible, customizable reporting capabilities.

We expect the solution will enable our users to become more productive, allowing them to run more reports, customize the reports for better business analysis, and easily distribute them over the Internet."

In addition to El Nuevo Dia and LTV Copperweld, 27 other current SmartStream General Ledger customers are in the process of implementing the FRx Financial Reporting solution. These include Connecticut Health System, the Government of the Turks & Caicos Islands, the Government of Vanuatu and the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company.
