RightTurns.com Introduces “National Issue Forum”

First forum used to raise national awareness of social services agency abuses.

San Francisco, Calif. , January 31, 2002 – The online conservative commentary magazine RightTurns.com will introduce “National Issue Forum” as a new special feature in its February 1st edition. Responding to an overwhelming reaction to the column “A Question of Abuse” by RightTurns.com author John Sidline, the publication invited subject matter experts as guest-columnists to write follow-up columns from a variety of perspectives all on the subject of potential abuses by child protective social services agencies nationwide.

The February 1st National Issue Forum guest-columnists are:

·    Utah State Senator D. Chris Buttars (R – West Jordan)

·    Oregon State Representative Dr. Janet Carlson (R – Salem)

·    Michigan State Representative Lauren Hager (R – Port Huron)

·    Dr. Richard Green, MD, Chief of Neurology at the Kaiser Permanente-Los Angeles Medical Center

“In my research I found alleged social services abuses reported largely by local press and treated only as local or state issues,” said Sidline. “My aim was not to draw any conclusions on policy, but rather to expose reported abuses by social services agencies as a national issue that needs more examination. We obviously touched a nerve as we received scores of letters from around the country, the vast majority in agreement and thanking us for raising the issue.”

The four guest columns can be viewed at the links below:

·    Sen. D. Chris Buttars, “Protecting The Innocent”

·    Rep. Dr. Janet Carlson, “In Search of a System for Abused and Neglected Children”

·    Rep. Lauren Hager, “Conservative Republicans need to come out of the closet on child protection issues.”

·    Dr. Richard Green “Limit Federal Child Support Enforcement to Welfare Cases”
