Theo Mandel Joins RepeatWeb Advisory Board

Founder and Principal of Interface Design and Development Brings Extensive Experience in Software Usability

AUSTIN, TX - 1/31/2002 - RepeatWeb, Inc. today announced the appointment of Theo Mandel, Ph.D. to the companys advisor board.

Dr. Mandel received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. There he conducted research on how people learn, remember, and read. As the computer industry began to realize it was important to learn more about the humans who use computers, he was awarded an internship in Human Factors and Usability at IBM Boulder.

Dr. Mandel worked for IBM for eleven years in software user interface architecture, product interface design, usability testing, consulting, and education. He was a member of the IBM group responsible for the object-oriented Common User Access (CUA) user interface architecture. This work was the basis for IBM's OS/2 operating system. He worked with key companies such as Microsoft and Lotus to define and implement interface guidelines and standards across the software industry.

As the founder and principal of Interface Design and Development, he helps corporations and software companies design, prototype, evaluate, and build effective and usable product interfaces. He has authored a number of publications and books. Dr. Mandel's newest book is The Elements of User Interface Design (1997, John Wiley & Sons, New York). His first book was The GUI-OOUI War: The Designer's Guide to Human-Computer Interfaces (1994, Van Nostrand Reinhold, New York). Dr. Mandel's latest book is to be translated in Russian. Dr. Mandel teaches seminars and tutorials at leading industry conferences, including
Seybold Seminars and CMP's WEB conference.

As a member of the advisory board, Dr. Mandel will work with other board members to assist the RepeatWeb executive team in determining appropriate corporate strategies as well as providing input on the direction of current and future product and application initiatives.
