Show You Care Everyday!
After the events that shook our country in 2001, most of us have rethought our priorities, and family is coming out on top. For parents especially, our children are at the forefront of our thoughts and we are trying to make sure they know we love them.
After the events that shook our country in 2001, most of us have rethought our priorities, and family is coming out on top. For parents especially, our children are at the forefront of our thoughts and we are trying to make sure they know we love them. In today's world, parents are rushing through each and every day, driving back and forth, going to work, going to school, attending sporting events, going on errands, cleaning the house, and an ongoing list of other activities that keep us busy. We tell ourselves that we are doing most of it for our families, for our children. But what they need most of all from us is to know that we care, to be reminded. Take the time to do that - right now!
RaisingOurKids.com has some helpful tips:
· Certificates -- Print personalized certificates that reward your child for a special attribute they have. You can see examples at www.RaisingADaughter.com/free/
· Love Notes -- Stick them in your childs lunch box, science book or even their gym bag. Theyll love the surprise and be reminded of you throughout their day.
· Make a Date -- Set aside a time each week to do something with your child. This is especially important with siblings, they each want to have their own special time with you.
· Send a Letter -- Everyone loves to get mail! Children often feel left out when all the mail is in the parents names, so send them something that is in their own name.
· Take a Picture -- Documenting your childs life will make them feel loved. Create an area where their pictures and artwork are the focal point such as a family room so they can remember past events.
Created in November of 2000 by Valerie Zilinsky, a 29-year-old mother of two, RaisingOurKids.com is the Internet destination for parents to reach out to each other regarding gender-specific parenting issues. Made up of RaisingADaughter.com and RaisingASon.com, the sites provide articles on every stage of childhood as well as an active community area. I never have nor ever will claim to be a 'parenting expert - that's not why the sites were created. Instead, I needed help and support, and I knew others felt the same," says Valerie. Visit RaisingOurKids.com for more support on showing your kids that you love them everyday.
