THE ARTIST HELP NETWORK NEW WEB SITE DEVOTED TO ARTIST CAREER RESOURCES
A new Web site has been created as a launching pad to help fine artists mine resources on career development and career challenges including nuts and bolts issues and personal and creative growth. The free site, www.artisthelpnetwork.com is packed with publications, organizations, service providers, Web sites, software, and audio-visual materials, pinpointing information on a comprehensive and focused range of career-related topics.
Divided into the headings Legal * Money * Creature Comforts * Presentation Tools * Career * Exhibitions, Commissions & Sales * and Other Resources -- each heading unfolds into subheadings that offer artists hundreds of regional, national and international connections. Although the network focuses primarily on subjects of interest to fine artists, those working in the applied arts, arts administration, and arts-related fields will also find the site helpful.
The Artist Help Network was created by Caroll Michels, a career coach, artist-advocate, and author of How to Survive & Prosper as an Artist. Selling Yourself without Selling Your Soul (Henry Holt & Company, New York). The Web site serves as a companion to the book's Appendix of Resources, keeping information current with address changes, and providing updates on new resources that come to Michels' attention after the book is published.
With more than 85,000 copies sold, How to Survive & Prosper as an Artist is required reading at many college and university art schools. A fifth-revised edition was published in December 2001.
The Artist Help Network has been selected as "Web Site of the Month" by The Artists Magazine, and will be featured in the May 2002 issue. The Artist Help Network Web site was designed by Skyhook Studios, Inc., in New York City. For additional information contact the Artist Help Network, 19 Springwood Lane, East Hampton, New York 11937-1169. Telephone 631-329-9105. E-mail: info1@artisthelpnetwork.com
