QCSI and Unisys Team Up to Deliver New State Medicaid Administration Solutions

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

QCSI and Unisys Team Up to Deliver New State
Medicaid Administration Solutions

State Medicaid agencies and health plans able to leverage Unisys experience and QCSI technology to reduce administrative overhead

PHOENIX, Ariz., and BLUE BELL, Pa. -- Quality Care Solutions, Inc., (QCSI), a leading provider of information technology software and services for healthcare payers, and Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS), an information services and technology solutions company, have signed a strategic partnership to bring software and services into the Medicaid payer market. Together, Unisys and QCSI will offer 21st century technological innovation through services, software and hardware to the healthcare market that traditionally uses legacy systems.

For the past 25 years, Unisys has been a leader in providing information solutions and operations-support services to Medicaid state agencies, including the system and administrative outsourcing services that help serve the Medicaid needs of 4.2 million U.S. recipients in five states.

Unisys and QCSI are delivering the essential components needed to adapt quickly to regulatory and marketplace change. This solution significantly accelerates payment cycles and dramatically reduces costs, enabling clients to flourish in the increasingly competitive areas of administrative cost containment and customer service.

The strategic agreement also enables Unisys to market an innovative QMACS-based solution to state Medicaid agencies and managed care organizations, providing installation, implementation, and conversion services. Unisys also plans to provide business processing and IT outsourcing while integrating complementary applications such as decision support systems, pharmacy point-of-service and drug utilization review applications and call-center solutions.

We expect this strategic alliance with QCSI will be a win for our customers," said Paul Kruelle, vice president of Architecture and Development, Unisys. "Our markets demand lower total cost of ownership, integrated applications, robust features/functionality and efficient operations. By leveraging each other's strengths, QCSI and Unisys now make advanced technology and superior operations more affordable and accessible to state Medicaid programs."

QMACS is a comprehensive healthcare management and administration system developed exclusively for healthcare payers, particularly the Medicaid managed care market. Medicaid state agencies and health plans require a robust solution that easily manages the significant amount of member enrollment information, authorizations, and providers among many other things. Not only does QMACS provide this functionality, but QMACS also enables Medicaid agencies and plans to manage complex fee-for-service and managed care reimbursement contracts more efficiently on a single system.

Many state Medicaid programs have infrastructure and software that is decades old," explained Gregory S. Anderson, president and CEO of QCSI. By partnering with Unisys, QCSI strengthens and reinforces its ability to deliver safe, secure healthcare payer solutions that will enable state Medicaid programs to reduce administrative costs, while increasing efficiency," Anderson continues, Our clients and the Medicaid market, trust QCSI and Unisys to deliver the solutions they need to reduce costs and become more efficient."
