RE: 442 Studios celebrates MPAC one-year anniversary February 5, 2002

MPAC is having a birthday! On February 5, the organization that helps the little guy" -independent musicians and artists from around the world - will celebrate one year of life on the Internet.

MPAC (MP3 Artist Coalition ) is an organization of independent musicians and artists from around the world that will provide MPAC member sites with more hits, higher chart positions, more downloads, and more money.

The group was founded by 442 Studios president David Zumsteg and software guru Steve Wonchoba as a way to use the collective strength of independent artists to benefit each other.

And while many Internet ventures fall by the side of the road, MPACs formula for success continues to grow the membership ranks. MPAC Members come from all over the world, including the United States, Russia, Spain, Hong Kong, Great Britain and Portugal.

While there are literally hundreds of thousands of independent artists with material on the Internet, Zumsteg and Wonchoba saw that only a very few enjoy the recognition and reward of being top artists. While the more successful artists have the money and backing to launch effective promotions and draw the site visits and CD sales, MPAC uses the sheer number of its members to drive traffic to MPAC member sites and reap the benefits.

Understanding that Internet sites such as MP3.com and IUMA reward their artists with a system that calculates, among other things, sites that achieve a set number of unique visitors per day, MPAC efficiently organizes and drives traffic to specific MPAC member sites each day. MPAC members regularly receive e-mail lists of sites specified for a given day. By focusing the attention on these few specific sites only, those sites enjoy a large increase in page visits as potentially hundreds of MPAC members all visit the same sites. The result will be more cash for the artist, increased chart positions for their songs, and potential growth in CD sales.

While the free membership MPAC program does rely on the 'honor system, back-end checking of e-mail responses from site hits eliminates the free-loaders. Zumsteg also points out that MPAC is not only for artists on MP3.com or IUMA, but is open to any artist that has a website that would benefit from an increased Internet visibility.

Zumsteg says as long as there are artists willing to give what they get in terms of site visits and downloads, MPAC will have a place on the internet.
