WAMI Awards show returns to Northern Lights Theater, honors accomplishments of local performing artists
In addition to highlighting the accomplishments of local performing artists through an annual awards show, WAMI also offers continuing education for music industry professionals through monthly membership meetings and music seminars.
Milwaukee....The Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) will stage its 22nd Annual WAMI Awards show in the Northern Lights Theater at Potawatomi Bingo Casino. The show will occur Monday, April 29, 2002 from 7 - 10 p.m.
This marks the second consecutive year that the WAMIs have been held at the theater. According to members of the show committee, the decision to host the ceremony in the Northern Lights Theater was based on the positive response to last year's event. "WAMI considers Potawatomi Bingo Casino an excellent partner and the Northern Lights Theater a perfect venue to showcase and honor the many talented music performers and industry personnel throughout the state," said John Ertl, president of Wisconsin Area Music Industry.
"We are pleased to host the 2002 WAMI Awards at the Northern Lights Theater. We look forward to a great partnership this year and well into the future," said Kurt Brown, entertainment director at Potawatomi Bingo Casino.
The growing prestige of the WAMI Awards is further enhanced by the venue's numerous amenities. "The Northern Lights Theater features cabaret-style booth and table seating where guests can order beverages and appetizers. Traditional theater seating is also offered in the balcony. The facility was digitally designed so that there "isn't a bad seat in the house," according to Brown.
Promoting the Wisconsin music scene, WAMI provides scholarships to students and emerging artists and offers continuing education for music industry professionals through monthly meetings and semi-annual music seminars.
WAMI sponsors include Potawatomi Bingo Casino and the Shepherd Express.
