MILWAUKEE, Feb. 6, 2002 - Rockwell Automation (NYSE: ROK) has recently signed agreements with 11 major manufacturers for the management of maintenance repair and operations (MRO) assets at 13 facilities in the United States. Signed between October and December 2001 with companies such as Alabama Power (a subsidiary of Southern Company), DaimlerChrysler and Ford, these MRO service agreements represent more than $6 million in annual revenue for Rockwell Automation. The service engagements with Fortune 500 companies in the transportation, agricultural equipment, power generation, metals and mining, paper, and consumer products industries cover approximately $345 million in automation assets.
Under the terms of the agreements, Rockwell Automation's Global Manufacturing Solutions business will assume inventory and MRO asset management responsibilities at each of the 13 facilities. Rockwell Automation's Asset Management Portfolio (RAAMP) program will be the framework for managing each companys MRO processes, including tracking repairable assets and product warranties, and optimizing inventory levels and maintenance resources. The RAAMP solution improves inventory accuracy and helps accelerate part repairs, enabling the companies to reduce MRO expenses, maximize investments and achieve greater overall profitability.
The broad range of companies outsourcing non-core competencies, such as MRO management, illustrates the market need for services and technological resources that can improve operational efficiency and profitability," said Mike Laszkiewicz, vice president, Rockwell Automation Asset Management business. We have found that it is not uncommon for companies of these sizes to save anywhere from $1 to 1.5 million in reduced MRO expenses during the first year of the RAAMP engagements."
A natural extension of Rockwell Automations extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in manufacturing and MRO operations, the RAAMP program provides companies with a customized outsourcing capability that streamlines asset management and inventory functions. A well-established Asset Management service, RAAMP has been available to Rockwell Automation customers since 1996.
