Irish Screen, an arts organization dedicated to the promotion of New Irish Cinema, is pleased to present the premiere of BORSTAL BOY on Feb 20, 2002 at the Los Angeles Film School in Hollywood.
Directed by Peter Sheridan, the film stars Shawn Hatosy, Danny Dyer, Michael York, Lee Ingleby and Robin Laing.
THE BORSTAL BOY is a new Irish film based on the memories of noted author and raconteur Brendan Behan. Brendan, a sixteen year-old Irish soldier, is going on a mission from Ireland to Liverpool during WW11. His mission is thwarted when he is apprehended, charged and imprisoned in a reform institution. Brendan is forced to live face-to-face with those he perceived as "the enemy", a confrontation that reveals a deep inner conflict and forces a self-examination that is both traumatic and revealing.
The screening is sponsored by Asahi Beer U.S.A., Inc. and presented by the Irish Screen and Strand Releasing. Admission is $5.00
The screening will be held Wednesday, February 20th at 7.30pm at The Los Angeles Film School Theatre. 6363 Sunset Blvd. (One block west of Vine opposite the Cinerama Dome.) Theatre and parking entrance on Ivar.
