Iemca has recently signed an extremely important agreement with Tsugami, the longest-standing manufacturer of lathes in Japan.
Tsugami is considered Japans number one for precision standards, and a close number two behind Citizen in the production of sliding headstock lathes.
The leading role played by Tsugami in the machine tool industry can be illustrated in just a few figures. Established in 1937, Tsugami today boasts an annual turnover of some 12 billion Yen and a technical staff of 650. It is specialised in single and multiple-spindle lathes, which are manufactured in its two production sites, Nagaoka and Shinshu (approximately 140 units produced monthly). Almost 30% of all production is exported.
According to the agreement, Tsugami will propose Iemca bar feeders to its customers and distributors as standard equipment with lathes BC-18, BU-26, MU-26, MU-38, MB-38 and MB-35. Thanks to the agreement, some 100 bar feeders are expected to be sold every year with the "Tsugami-Iemca" brand name. All after-sales service for bar feeders will be directly provided by IGM Nippon KK. The possibility of installing an Iemca bar feeder on other Tsugami lathes will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
What reasons led Tsugami to make this decision?
First of all because Tsugami technicians noted that Iemca bar feeders, when fitted to their lathes, had always guaranteed a standard performance far higher than that of competitor brands. Furthermore, Tsugami saw collaboration with Iemca as the strategic key to becoming the leading name in Japan for the production of CNC automatic lathes.
Following the signing of the agreement, Iemca displayed a wide range of its bar feeders during an Open House organised by Tsugami. The result of the Open House was positive, with over 1,000 visitors acknowledging the benefits to be gained from the partnership between Tsugami and Iemca. Similar initiatives will in fact be held in the near future -- initiatives that bear witness to the important headway made by Iemca into such a difficult market.
