XPRESS TAKES AIM AT LAX
Xpress Shuttle filed an $18 Million claim against Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and the City of Los Angeles
Los Angeles, CA, February 6, 2002 - Today LA Xpress Shuttle filed an $18 Million claim against Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and the City of Los Angeles. In a letter sent to the President and members of the Airport Commission, Roger Moradi Xpress Shuttle CEO said that it was with regret" that he filed the claim. I was forced to file the claim following LAWA staffs unequal treatment of Xpress Shuttle in the management of the walk-up" ground passenger concession program" stated Moradi.
The principal basis for the claim against LAWA is that it discriminatorily forced Xpress out of the walk -up" door to door multiple passenger concession program for arrearages it owed to LAWA of approximately $374,000, while avoiding any action against similar providers in the same program, such as Prime Time Shuttle and Super Shuttle, with respective arrearages of $614,151 and $303,545.
Moradi in his letter to the Airport Commissioners criticized LAWAs staff for considering proposals to forgive the existing arrears of both Prime Time and Super Shuttle and to renew the failed concession program for another year, despite the fact that both those carriers are drowning in red ink". Moradi also requested further discussion on the issue from the Airport Commissioners at their next meeting.
Xpress Shuttle has been operating Airport Transfer services since 1988, working 3 main branches in Torrance, San Diego and Salt Lake City, Utah.
