CALYPSO MAKES THE NATURAL CHOICE

Calypso Soft Drinks is putting the emphasis on natural ingredients in its 2002 portfolio. Calypso Cups feature a new range of natural flavours, while Pure Juice and Fruit Juice drinks contain no artificial flavours or colours. All are now blended with Abenbury natural mineral water from the companys own spring.

Calypso Soft Drinks is homing in on one of the industrys fastest-growing sectors with the launch of Clear Calypso -- a sugar-free mineral water drink in a range of natural flavours.
The move follows the award of Natural Mineral Water status on the companys dedicated water source at Abenbury, North Wales. The water, which emerges from a depth of 140 metres at the foot of the Welsh mountains, contains a naturally-balanced (7.6 pH at source) mix of minerals including calcium, potassium, bicarbonate, sulphate, magnesium, sodium and chloride.
Abenbury mineral water is now used exclusively throughout the Calypso range, but the sugar-free Clear Calypso range takes the healthy lifestyle theme further by using a new range of natural flavours including orange and mango, lemon and lime, strawberry, forest fruits, clear cola, peach and apple.
The combination of crystal clear mineral water with natural flavours is absolutely in tune with the way the nations taste is moving," said Calypso marketing director, Richard Cooke.
Clear flavoured drinks have come from nowhere to account for more than 4% of total UK demand, while mineral water consumption has doubled since 1994 and continues to increase at around 10% each year. We believe that putting the two together in a convenient single-serve cup size will make Clear Calypso one of our strongest brands in the foodservice sector thanks to the broad spectrum of its appeal both to adults and children."
Clear Calypso is available in boxes of 24 cups, each containing 185 ml of clear flavoured mineral water.
