SILVER SPRING, MD - February 11 -- The 2nd annual Maryland WAHMfest, a unique Work-At Home-Moms Expo, will be held Saturday, March 23, in Bethesda, MD. Parents who have chosen to interrupt their careers to care for their children, as well as those wanting to learn more about home-based opportunities, are invited to attend this event, which will run from 11 am-5 pm.
Many parents are meeting the challenges of career and family by finding creative ways to combine the two, according to Marybeth Henry, who conceived and launched WAHMfest three years ago. While some opt for long-established home-based opportunities such as Avon, Mary Kay or Tupperware, others have chosen newer companies such as Warm Spirit, MAXXIS 2000 and JS HomeStyle. Others have launched their own consulting businesses in areas like marketing support, public relations, graphic design, and web site development, all of which can be accomplished in a home office with a computer and modem. While others are seeking telecommuting arrangements.
"The term 'stay-at-home-mom is being redefined," said Imogene Armstrong, Director of Maryland WAHMfest. WAHMfest is an enormous resource for companies that want to hire highly motivated, professional workers, but don't necessarily need a 9-to-5 presence at the office," she said.
45 exhibitors are participating in the Maryland WAHMfest with information, business opportunities, a seminar (Smart Women Finish Rich) and advice from those who have "been there," according to Armstrong. "You are welcome to come and explore the different opportunities available, you may find your perfect niche! One that will help you build your dreams of success while putting your passion to work for you!"
This year the Maryland WAHMfest will be holding a benefit raffle and awarding a 27" Color TV, DVD Player and an Ultimate Spa Getaway Gift Basket. All proceeds after expenses will go to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington Group Homes & Shelters.
We encourage you to visit the Maryland WAHMfest web site to get updates on this upcoming event. Sponsorship and advertising opportunities are still available for the program and year-round, web-based directory. Attendance is absolutely FREE and open to the public. Children are welcome!
