Gillette Purchases Electric City EnergySavers to Shave Utility Bills

ELK GROVE, IL -- February 6, 2002 -- Electric City (AMEX: ELC) announced today that Gillette Corp. has purchased EnergySaverÔ systems with associated photocell contactors for its Gillette Midwest Distribution Center in Romeoville, Ill. The EnergySaver units will be used to reduce the electricity consumed for lighting the 532,000 sq. ft. facility, as well as to respond to curtailment requests by utility suppliers during peak demand periods.

The Gillette project also includes photocell contactors to allow Gillette to automatically adjust lighting levels to take advantage of natural daylight illuminating the facility. It represents one of Electric Citys first large-scale installations combining the EnergySaver with photocell controls for daylight harvesting. Utilizing the EnergySaver in conjunction with photocell control allows customers like Gillette to save even more energy with the EnergySaver during daylight hours," stated Brian Kawamura President & COO of Electric City. The microprocessor controller on the EnergySaver makes the adjustments automatically for the customer maximizing savings whenever possible."

This project represents another success with a sophisticate corporate customer and with a warehouse operation," continued Kawamura. The EnergySaver is particularly effective in warehouse facilities. Lighting represents a larger portion of their overall energy costs thereby resulting in a larger percentage of overall cost reductions and improvement to their bottom line. The Gillette site represents one of the largest single warehouse sites we have served to date. We have had strong success in the warehouse sector and expect continued growth in this market."

Electric Citys EnergySaver technology provides customers with a system that reduces electricity demand and consumption from lighting systems between 20% and 50% while maintaining appropriate lighting levels.
