HitsIntoMetrics compares the success of web content and marketing campaigns
Leuven, Belgium, 12 February 2002 -- Netmining, a Leuven-based developer of software for e-Business Intelligence (e-BI), is proud to announce the launch of HitsIntoMetrics". The latter is a modular software solution whereby large companies can, from a business perspective, analyse, comparatively, the visitor traffic or 'click stream its various websites are getting. Thanks to that analysis they enjoy ready access to detailed statistics about the number of surfers that visit their websites, and theyre able to compare the analytical data from the different sites on a consistent basis.
Lexmark, a leading supplier of printers, used HitsIntoMetrics commercially on its worldwide websites, during the trial phase of the product. HitsIntoMetrics is -- after HitsIntoLeads - the second powerful solution, from the Netmining stable, for customer-centric e-BI.
Leuven-based technology
Large companies often possess a suite of websites with identical content elements, which may be dotted over several countries. Valuable information can be gleaned from pooling and comparing the flow of visitors to those Internet addresses (URLs). This is because companies are able to ascertain which pages of web content have a lot of hits and those that dont. They can also measure the results of marketing campaigns and adapt them where necessary. Such a comparative click stream analysis isnt that simple. The websites of firms in different countries do, admittedly, as a rule, showcase the same products and services but theyre based, unfortunately, on dissimilar technical standards and/or systems.
HitsIntoMetrics gets round that problem by 'tagging, viz. the linking of different URLs with identical content to uniform business-URLs (also known as 'mirror sites with 'replicated content). The same technology also allows companies to keep track of surfers movements across several sites. Should the firm subsequently alter the URLs on its website(s), the uniform business-URLs will continue to exist and the software wont need to be updated.
Managers and communication specialists have a need for statistical feedback about their websites and Internet initiatives that are under way in different countries," said Maarten Van Laere, Netminings CEO. In practice, however, that has proved difficult because websites are often based on dissimilar technologies and/or subscribe to another URL classification system. But now - thanks to HitsIntoMetrics - global analysis is 'pie in the sky no longer. Our open-system software has already found favour with several multinationals."
3 modules
HitsIntoMetrics comprises three modules which are also available separately: the Netmining Data Collector, the HitsIntoMetrics Data Processor and the HitsIntoMetrics Data Reporter. The Netmining Data Collector is the core technology that tracks and logs the visitor traffic a website (one or more) is getting, and all this in conformity with the strictest privacy laws. Compared with other log analysis applications, HitsIntoMetrics is one of the few which allows firms to choose between the opt-in" (visitors remain anonymous) and the opt-out" (visitors' movements at a website are traced; they can, if desired, elect to remain anonymous) principle. In addition, those companies can also make use of the HitsIntoMetrics Data Processor" -- this tool takes care of the actual conversion of the raw data in a data warehouse. Last but not least, Netmining also markets the HitsIntoMetrics Data Reporter" for visualizing the results of the analysis.
Price and availability
Like our other software products, HitsIntoMetrics is licensed, not sold. The application is available immediately from stock, worldwide, either from Netmining itself or through one of its distribution partners, for a starter kit price of EUR 39 000 (for the three modules).
