DENVER, CO -- Mincom, a global technology solutions provider for the utilities industry, and Electric Energy Inc. (EEI), a Joppa, Illinois-based company, have signed an agreement for the Mincom Ellipse solution, including the Mincom Envoy Buyer e-Procurement suite.

Mincom will deploy its flagship Mincom Ellipse software system to integrate and facilitate the streamlining of EEIs business processes, including maintenance, work management, materials, and financials.

EEI has also contracted Mincom to deliver e-Procurement capabilities to source and purchase critical MRO items across the Internet. The EEI-Mincom implementation process is expected to take seven months, with an anticipated 'go-live date of July 2002.

Electric Energy Inc. operates a coal-fired power plant. Additionally, EEI consists of four wholly-owned subsidiaries: Midwest Electric Power, which operates two gas-fired combustion turbines; Joppa & Eastern Railroad, which operates over 800 rail cars; Met-South, its ash-handling subsidiary; and Massac Enterprises, its retailing division.

We are very data driven at EEI," said EEI Vice-President Bill Sheppard. We depend on having lots of fresh data available so we can make fast and accurate decisions based on current information. We think Mincoms integrated solution will blend the business processes of our coal plant and its four subsidiaries so that information is not duplicated, is stored in a single location, is obtained in the format we want and can be accessed with less effort."

Rick Rogers, Vice President of North American Utilities for Mincom, said We are very pleased to have EEI as a customer. Their business strategies and direction fit perfectly with Mincoms focus. Additionally, with the integration of Ellipse to EEIs OSI Pi plant historians systems, we are able to provide real-time information from the plant floor all the way to senior management regarding the operating status and efficiencies of EEIs critical equipment. This enables them to make better and more accurate decisions about their operations,"
