EMPLOYMENT LIABILITY SEMINARS PLANNED BY UNIQUE JOINT VENTURE OF LEADING ORGANIZATIONS AND LAW FIRMS
January 2002 -- Recognizing the intense need to identify and prevent liability in the modern workplace, a unique group of leading organizations and law firms has joined together to offer a series of pragmatic seminars. Led by Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. ("RIMS"), The National Underwriter Company ("National Underwriter") and the Florida Workers' Compensation Institute ("FWCI"), the programs will offer an unparalleled educational experience to a diverse audience and will be conducted by four participating law firms -- Baker & McKenzie; Constangy, Brooks & Smith, LLC; Jackson Lewis; and McConnaughhay, Duffy, Coonrod, Pope & Weaver.
The series of seminars will be repeated five times at the following dates and locations: New Orleans, Louisiana (May 8 & 9, 2002); Nashville, Tennessee (May 15 & 16, 2002); Orlando, Florida (May 23 & 24); Atlanta, Georgia (June 10 & 11, 2002); and Dallas, Texas (July 8 & 9, 2002).
Offered in a format that combines lecture and interactive working sessions, the following topics will be covered at each program: Reducing Litigation Costs: OSHA and Outsourcing; State of the Art Practices to Minimize Litigation in the Workplace and in the Digital Workplace; Investigating and Resolving Alleged Employee Misconduct and Sexual Harassment; and Risk Management in the Workplace: Avoiding High Risk Workplace Behaviors and The Claims-Defense Team Role in Workplace Risk Management. While the program is open to anyone, it will be particularly beneficial for risk managers, human resource professionals, insurance agents and brokers, and attorneys. Also, this program is a part of the continuing education requirement for the new RIMS Fellow Designation (visit their Web site at www.rims.org for details).
The marquis sponsors of the program bring together three organizations that lead their industries: The Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing the practice of risk management, a professional discipline that protects physical, financial and human resources; The National Underwriter Company publishes a broad array of print, e-media and software products for the insurance and financial services industries. Its key publications include the two weekly magazines, National Underwriter, Property & Casualty/Risk & Benefits Management and National Underwriter, Life & Health/Financial Services, as well as a monthly magazine, Claims, and an annual conference targeted to claims professionals, the ACESCLA Conference & Exposition; and the Florida Workers' Comp Institute is a non-profit organization with the purpose of keeping participants within the workers' comp field ahead of the learning curve by offering educational programs, materials, and conferences.
