Port of San Diego (San Diego, California) awards Taylor-Ball California (San Diego, California) to build $15.4 Million Dollar refrigerated container facility that will be occupied by Dole Fresh Fruit Company. The construction commenced in December 2001 on a new refrigerated container storage facility, a 9,400-sqft administration building, a repair shop, trailer wash facility, and a gatehouse.
Dole Fresh Fruit Company (NYSE: DOL) based in Westlake Village, California signed a 20-year lease with the Port of San Diego and plans to bring in about 45,000 containers per year of bananas and other tropical products. The facility is expected to possibly double the $1.5 million in revenue that the Port of San Diego generates when it becomes operational in September 2002.
