FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CATALYST SEMICONDUCTOR LEADS INDUSTRY IN HIGH SPEED EEPROM TECHNOLOGY

Sunnyvale, Calif. (February 14, 2002) -- Catalyst Semiconductor (Nasdaq: CATS) today announced two
additional high-speed serial EEPROM products. The CAT93HC46 with a Microwire interface operates
at 3MHz, and the CAT24FC32 with an I2C interface operates at 1MHz. "System microcontrollers
must perform more tasks and are now operating at higher operating frequencies," said Gary
Craig, product marketing manager for Catalyst memory products. "It is important that memory
speeds do not limit processor capability. Catalyst leads the industry with 10MHz SPI serial
EEPROMS and now has added 1MHz I2C and 3MHz Microwire devices to support all major interfaces."

CAT24FC32, CAT93HC46 Product Comparison

Part         Speed Supply Voltage Interface Density/Organization
=========    ====== ============== ========= ======================
CAT24FC32 1MHz     2.7V to 5.5V     I2C         32K / x8
CAT24FC32 400kHz 1.8V to 5.5V     I2C         32K / x8
CAT93HC46 3MHz     4.5V to 5.5V    Microwire        1K / x8, x16
CAT93HC46 1MHz     2.5V to 6.0V    Microwire        1K / x8, x16
CAT93HC46 250kHz 1.8V to 6.0V    Microwire        1K / x8, x16

The CAT24FC32 is a 32Kbit, Fast Mode I2C serial EEPROM that operates at 1MHz. Both 32-byte page
and byte write modes are supported. With zero standby current, the CAT24FC32 is ideal for low
voltage and battery powered systems that require high-speed operation.

The CAT93HC46 is a 1Kbit, high-speed Microwire serial EEPROM that operates at 3MHz. The user
can select a x8 or x16 memory organization.

Product specifications can be downloaded at http://www.catalyst-semiconductor.com/datasheets.

Pricing, Availability and Packages

The CAT93HC46 and CAT24FC32 devices are offered in 8-lead DIP and 8-lead surface mount SOIC
and TSSOP packages. Commercial, 0 to 70 degree centigrade, and industrial, -40 to 85 degree
centigrade, automotive, -40 to 105 degree centigrade, and extended automotive, -40 to 125 degree
centigrade operating temperature range devices are available.

Production volumes of the CAT93HC46 and samples of the CAT24FC32 are available now. The CAT93HC46
is priced at $0.25 each in 1000-lot units and the CAT24FC32 is priced at $0.65 each in
1000-lot units. Production of the CAT24FC32 is scheduled for the second quarter of 2002.

Except for those statements that report the Company's historical results, the
statements being made are forward-looking statements. Actual results could differ materially
from those projected in the forward-looking statements. Factors which could cause actual
results to differ from expectations include the following: economic conditions in the market
generally and in the semiconductor industry specifically, volatility in supply and demand
affecting revenues and market prices, price and availability of silicon foundry, assembly and
test subcontract capacity required to meet financial targets and/or meet backlog
requirements, risks and delays associated with bringing up new production capabilities
with deliveries from subcontractors, timing and market acceptance of new products, increased
expenses associated with new product introductions or process changes, delays in developing
or achieving volume production of new products, which can result in delays or failure to c
ontribute to revenues and profits, ability of the Company to maintain its customer and vendor
base and delays in and/or inability in raising additional capital.

Additional information concerning factors that could cause actual results to differ
materially from those in the forward-looking statements is contained under the
heading "Certain Factors That May Affect the Company's Future Results of Operations"
listed from time to time in Catalyst's SEC reports including but not limited to
the report on Form 10-K for the year ended April 30, 2001 and Form 10-Q for
the quarters ended July 31, 2001, and October 31, 2001.
