PebbleCom embraces XML/SVG"

PebbleCom looks to the future with SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics).

15th February 2002 -- For Immediate Release

Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is the exciting new addition to the W3C XML specification. SVG enables the creation of high quality 2D vector graphics from a text-based format, often improving on file size of a traditional GIF or JPG image.

PebbleCom founder James Clark commented SVG is still in the early stages for cross browser support, but it is gathering pace and I believe SVG will become as popular and widely used as traditional image formats".

Because SVG conforms to the DOM, it will be scriptable just like HTML version 4. This means that you are able to use known functions such as onmouseover, onmouseout, onload, and onfocus on your SVG image, CSS can also be used to further extend the scope and layout.
